Cat sculpture, wire art, street art, african art, upcycle, handmade from recycled wire by Zimbabwean artist Mwazha. Size: 16 x 13 x 5 cm Mwazha is originally from Harare in Zimbabwe, he started to making wire art at the age of 7, making toys for himself. Originally from Harare in Zimbabwe, Mwazha moved to South Africa in 1998, first selling his work on the streetside, but soon became known in the art world for wire portrait sculptures of Nelson Mandela. Mwazha has worked as the lead artist of a social organization Streetwires. He has done many commissions and exhibitions throughout South Africa, winning several awards. His work includes portrait sculptures, sometimes larger than life, from chicken wire and recently has developed a new style, using recycled fencing wire, chaotically twisted into perfectly formed animals. With a seemingly effortless ability to achieve likenesses, one is amazed at the expert way in which he manipulates wire, an unforgiving medium in less skilful hands.
